                        Preliminary Examination 2015


CSAT or Civil Services Aptitude Test is the Preliminary examination of UPSC, it test the aptitude of examinee to tackle Reasoning and Analytical questions. Consist of two papers, each of 200 marks and two hours of duration and it is compulsory to appear in both.
It is an Objective section, and every wrong attempt will cost you 1/3rd marks of the attempted question.
Syllabus for Paper 1:(200 marks) Duration : Two hours

  • Current events (National and International)
  • History of India
  • Geography of the world (Physical, Social, Economic)
  • Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution
  • Economic and Social Development
  • General Issues (Environmental Ecology, Bio-Diversity, Climate change etc.)
  • General Science.
Syllabus for Paper 2:(200 marks) Duration : Two hours
  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision-making and problem solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level).
Note 1: The CSAT aptitude test or Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) examination will be a qualifying paper only with a minimum of 33% to be secured to sit for the Civil Services (Mains) exam.

Maharashtra Public Service Commission conducts lots of examination every year including the MPSC State Service exams, for providing most suitable candidates for various govt. posts as well as advises them on various matters such as promotions, disciplinary actions, transfers etc. MPSC recruitment board released the official notifications regarding different examinations of civil services on its official portal https://www.mpsc.gov.in/.
